Exciting times here at Dublinia. We have decided to branch out into the world of Online Learning
Here's a bit of background to the project, back in 1999, Dublinia, along with a few other partners including Dublin City
Council, designed a DVD for primary schools called Medieval Dublin (From
Vikings to Tudors) with a design company called Noho. A 2nd edition
was put out a few years after that so that it could be used and bought by all
audiences. FYI, we also use elements from this brilliant DVD in our exhibitions.
Back in 2015 we decided that this should be put online having received funding to do so from Dublin City Council. So the brains here, Sheila our Education officer, the don Denise, along with DCC's heritage officer Charles and of course the nerds at Noho, put their heads together and came up with a fantastic website that presents a new concept in Online Learning!
Through audio-visual interactives on the history of Viking and medieval Dublin this brilliant new website includes 9 audio visual animations with interactives on 9 historical sites in Dublin. There are 3 sections on the Vikings, and 5 on the Anglo Normans, there are plenty of quizzes and hotspots to keep students entertained while learning! It's an excellent primary school resource for the classroom environment working with interactive whiteboards.
We launched this project with the kids of 5th class in St.Audeons National School, our Viking Aaron, and even invited RTE in for the special occasion!
We are hoping to do lots more with this website, and not just for schools. check it out here http://dublinia.ie/online-learning/
